Good evening, Family and Friends!! I had promised

Good evening, Family and Friends!!

I had promised to add this to the menu last year, I think. I had been making them as an off the menu item, but I will be adding them as a special item in the window. It's my cheeseburger salad. A 1/4 lb patty, shredded cheese, bacon, avocado, tomatoes and lettuce. Also offering a 1/2 lb version if you are really hungry. Hope you like it. See you all soon.

Today, we raised prices. It has been well over a year since the last time, and it had to be done.

And a heads up to everyone, watch the price of pork. California's newest animal health and welfare regulation, Proposition 12 (Prop 12), prohibits the strict confinement of breeding pigs. This also is in effect when buying from out-of-state pork farmers. Bacon has gone up over a dollar in the last month.

I added a Cali Burger to the menu for everyone ordering bacon and avocado cheeseburgers.

Mom is still in Greece with her sister, for all that have been wondering. She should be back in October. I will post when she visits the store if anyone wants to see her.

My mom has made it safely and was having her morning coffee with her sister.

Funny story. My mom and her sister look alike. A customer comes to the window and starts complaining to my mom that he is upset with her for ignoring him when he said, "Good Morning". My mom was confused. I didn't see you earlier. Yes, in the dining room. Right then, my aunt walks to the front and the gentleman immediately apologizes realizing that it was her sister and not her.

Thank you for all the kind messages. We had her read them while on the plane. She is always surprised that people remember her.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms. We thank you

Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms. We thank you for the love and guidance you have given us. They say "only a Mother could love" and there is something we have all done to test this and our Mothers continue to love us unconditionally. There is nothing we can do make up for this love but to try and love you back as much as you love us.

The photo was taken last week. Mom is walking with her walker and came to visit us. I am hoping to bring her by a few times a week to sit and chat with everyone.

Thank you for everyone that continues to ask and wish her a speedy recovery.

Hello Family and Friends, Today marks 30 years si

Hello Family and Friends,

Today marks 30 years since my father fell asleep in the Lord. Amazing how time passes just like that. I didn't have much to share on the 49th anniversary, so let me share a few things about my dad.

My dad was a career military man in Greece. He was going to be a ship captain when he disembarked in Los Angeles. He needed to remove his tonsils and decided to stay even after the surgery. I asked him why he decided to leave because a captain makes a good salary, so it wasn't the money. He just said he was ready for a change.

He was able to stay in Los Angeles with friends from the village. He eventually ended up in Riverside, working at the Mission Inn as a busboy, a waiter, and eventually a cook. This is where I believe he learned most of the things he would use to build his menu. I was recently told that he also worked at another small hotel where he would make entrees table side. He also worked at Rohr Aircraft before starting his own business.

He always told me, "I make the best food, not the cheapest food." Something that we still take pride in. We could use lesser ingredients but stick to the food we would want to serve to ourselves. He stressed the value of loyalty to the people who help build you, as long as they respect you, are honest and don't try to cheat or steal from you. It's why most of our relationships are going on 40+ years.

Quite a few things stand out to me about him, but his willingness to share information and help others are at the top of the list. Most people are afraid that you will steal their thoughts, ideas, and in turn, their business. He never worried about that. He sold the Cactus to a friend at cost because the friend could no longer work on automobiles. He said you need a way to make money, and this will put food on the table for you and your family.

I try to honor him daily by still holding what he taught me. It's tough, to be honest. There are easier ways, but by keeping his name on that sign and keeping George's open, it's like he is still with me.

I miss you and love you, Dad. Thank you for everything. May your memory be eternal.

Update for Family and Friends, I got off the phon

Update for Family and Friends,

I got off the phone with the doctor. The surgery went well. She had a clean break and will not need a hip replacment but she will set off a metal detector for now on. She will be out for a while recovering but thank you all for the kind words, thoughts and prayers.
She is too stubborn for her own good but hopefully that will be helpful in her recovery.

I am sadden to tell everyone that mom had an accident today at the restaurant. She feel and broke her hip which will require surgery immediately. I will try to keep everything running as normal but mom has priority in my life so this will be some adjusting to business as usual. Thank you for your understanding and please keep her in your thoughts.

Stay warm everyone, this cold is crazy. I had never seen snow actually fall in Riverside. I woke up once to having on the roofs of the homes in the area but never seen a flurry.

Lastly, our 49th anniversary passed in February. I will try to think of a story to tell later on but as always, we thank our faithful family and customers for all the support since 1974!
